Sunday Morning Coming Down

Roger Manley, director of the Gregg Museum of Art and Design at NC State University in Raleigh, sent these photos yesterday (from the webcam atop Reynolds Coliseum at http://web.ncsu.edu/campusenterprises/talley/stream.html). The “old” Gregg, which was not old at all, is giving way, and the new Gregg will (eventually) open in the former Chancellor’s residence. For more info on their temporary arrangements and big plans, see the Gregg’s website.

It looks horrifying right now, but all will be well, and better.  Manley included this note:

“Though it’s messy and perhaps a little sad to see it go–so many shows!–I prefer to liken it to the breaking of an eggshell when a baby bird begins to emerge into the world.  The future Gregg is going to be a delightful new thing.”
